It's been awhile since I've been on this forum. I came here initially when my daughter was born -- she has 9 incomplete vertebrae and we can honestly say they can't agree on the degree - other than it's over 100 degrees. We had been seeing Dr. Betz at Shriner's Hospital in Philly at least until he retired. The new Dr that took over, I didn't particularly like and am now back at Children's Hospital in DC with Dr. Martin.
Emily just turned 11. She was born with heart, kidney and the spine issues. We just went through where we are scheduled for August 3, 2017 back surgery with 4 weeks starting on July 5, 2017 in halo traction. I pushed to have the MRIs done of her heart and spine prior to those dates and good thing I did. They saw some issues with the heart and just yesterday she had a cardiac cath to help with the heart. We are now cleared to have the back stuff done.
Anyone here did the halo prior to the surgery? How did that work for you and how did it help with the surgery? I could really use support as she's having issues with her Dad right now and the stress of everything. So anything I can tell her to make it better would be helpful.
Much appreciated.
